Obituary for Gerald M. Botkin

STAUNTON – Gerald Morgan Botkin, 77, of 184 Fairfield Dr., died Saturday in Augusta Health. 

Born July 23, 1941 in Washington, D.C., he was a son of Clarence Rupert and Susan Elizabeth (Baldwin) Botkin.  Gerald was a retired software analyst.  He was a member of Staunton Orthodox Presbyterian Church and loved his church family.  He was also a dedicated bridge player - very proud of his 1,500 master points – and was an avid hunter. 

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Botkin.  Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Botkin; three children, John Calvin Botkin and wife Rose of St. Augustine, Fla., Nga Nguyen Bauserman and husband Martin of Strasburg, Va.; and Kim Botkin Babineau of Staunton; a sister, Betty Sue Kagey of Winchester; five grandchildren, Nathan Scheib, Jonathan Scheib, Lillia Bauserman, Evelyn Bauserman, and Mia Morgan Babineau; one great-grandson, Grayson Scheib; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A burial service will be held privately in Cedarwood Cemetery, Edinburg.  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Emmanuel Baptist Church in Verona.  Pastors Ethan Allison and Bryan Wheeler will officiate. 

Memorials may be directed to Staunton Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 2408 Hickory Street, Staunton, VA  24401.
